On March 7th, at 1:30 pm, the opening ceremony of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics' (SUFE) 2023 "Mingde" Youth Leadership Training Camp was held in the report hall on the first floor of the Entrepreneurship Center. Wu Fei, Founding Partner of Shanghai DaoDe Investment Management Partnership, SUFE Board Member, and Donor of the "Mingde" Youth Leadership Program, attended the ceremony alongside SUFE's Executive Vice President Xu Fei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Zhu Mingxiong, leaders from relevant departments, youth mentors, and all 2023 "Mingde" participants.
Chapter 1: The Way of the University Lies in Cultivating Virtue
The "Mingde" Youth Leadership Training Camp is a talent development program initiated by alumnus Wu Fei to express gratitude to his alma mater and support its educational endeavors. It aims to nurture forward-thinking and globally aware finance professionals for the new era, equipping them with a broad perspective, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills at both macro and micro levels. Through a short video, it reviewed the six-year growth of the “Matilda” camp, and the messages and outlook of the past students and mentors showed the style of the “Matilda” people.
Wu Fei addressed the audience, sharing personal experiences and encouraging participants to learn from leaders' strengths, enhance their leadership skills alongside professional knowledge, and prioritize giving and integrity.
Chapter 2: Cultivating Virtue and Ambition, Pursuing Knowledge and Action
Li Jiaji, an outstanding alumnus from a previous "Mingde" camp, shared his growth and insights. The camp, he said, honed his communication skills, self-management, and understanding of leadership theories.
Shen Siyuan, representing the current participants, expressed their commitment to not only developing communication and leadership skills during the camp but also striving to become industry leaders with integrity and expertise in the future.
Chapter 3: Setting Sail Toward a New Horizon of Virtue
Mentors are crucial for growth. To better understand and apply leadership, the camp engaged youth mentors to accompany the participants. Executive Vice President Xu Fei and Board Member Wu Fei presented appointment letters to the mentors.
The ceremony culminated with a solemn oath taken by all "Mingde" participants, marking the official start of the 2023 camp. Following this, the inaugural "Mingde Forum · Master Series" featuring a lecture on "Strategic Leadership Enablement" by Professor Xu Fei was attended by nearly 300 SUFE students.
The 2023 "Mingde" camp enrolled 120 participants from across the university, offering a two-month program from March to May, encompassing leadership theory, case studies, forums, situational practice, and self-discipline cultivation. Additional training, including a government affairs camp and an overseas study tour in Cambridge, will be provided from May to July.
We believe that participants will soar with leadership as their wings, making their youth blossom in "Mingde".
