On March 8, 2024, the opening ceremony of the 2024 "Mingde" Youth Leadership Training Camp was held at the report hall on the first floor of the Entrepreneurship Center at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE). Wu Fei, Founding Partner of Shanghai DaoDe Investment Management Partnership Enterprise Co., Ltd., SUFE Trustee, and Donor of the "Mingde" Youth Leadership Program, along with Xu Fei, Member of the SUFE Party Committee Standing Committee and Executive Vice President, Cao Dongbo, Member of the SUFE Party Committee Standing Committee and Director of the Propaganda Department, leaders from relevant functional departments, youth mentors, and all 2024 "Mingde" participants attended the ceremony.
Chapter 1: The Way of the University Lies in Cultivating Virtue
The "Mingde" Youth Leadership Talent Cultivation Program at SUFE, established with a donation from Mr. Wu Fei, SUFE Trustee and 1990 alumnus, aims to cultivate outstanding finance and economics talents with a global perspective, national spirit, and strong creativity, decisiveness, organizational skills, and resilience. Through a short video, the training plan and goals of this year's "Mingde" Youth Leadership Training Camp were introduced.
Mr. Wu Fei, the donor of the Mingde Fund and SUFE Trustee, delivered a speech, sharing his original intention of establishing the fund—to plant a seed of leadership in the hearts of SUFE students, hoping it would take root and grow in their future lives. He emphasized the importance of being willing to be led and striving to lead, seizing opportunities to cultivate leadership, and applying leadership knowledge practically. His heartfelt speech inspired the "Mingde" participants.
Chapter 2: Passing on Mingde, Shining Brightly
Cui Yiyao, a 2022 undergraduate from the School of Finance, representing excellent participants from previous "Mingde" camps, shared his experiences and gains from the 2023 camp. He benefited greatly from the diverse curriculum and practical opportunities in the themed training camps, as well as the in-depth experiences of British culture and teamwork during the overseas study tour. He encouraged the participants to seize the valuable learning opportunities, cultivate leadership on a global platform, broaden their horizons through international exposure, and strive to become young leaders with global competence.
Xu Mengmeng, a 2023 undergraduate from the School of Law and a representative of this year's "Mingde" camp, shared her motivation for joining. The "Mingde" camp is an important path for her to broaden her international perspective, explore her potential, and improve her overall qualities. She expressed her determination to cherish this opportunity and make the most of it with her fellow participants.
Chapter 3: Aspire to Mingde, Unite for Progress
The "Mingde" participants then collectively wore their badges, which symbolize not only their identity and honor but also expectations and missions. As "Mingde" members, they are expected to shoulder these expectations, live in the present, and look to the future.
Mentorship is crucial for the growth of "Mingde" participants. To help them better understand and apply leadership knowledge, this year's "Mingde" camp has hired practical mentors for the State Affairs Training Camp. Mr. Wu Fei presented appointment letters to the mentors.
Professor Xu Fei, Executive Vice President, addressed the new "Mingde" participants, emphasizing the cultivation of "leader talents" with a global perspective. He stressed that participants should not limit themselves to personal interests but should strive to cultivate their moral character and work for the well-being of the people. His profound words greatly benefited the "Mingde" participants.
After the opening ceremony, the first lecture of the Mingde Forum·Dialogue with Masters series was delivered by Professor Xu Fei on "Empowering Strategic Leadership," attracting nearly 300 SUFE students.
This year's "Mingde" Youth Leadership Training Camp has been upgraded to a combined educational model of first and second classrooms, forming a more comprehensive and systematic teaching system. Additionally, a new basic camp—the Kuangshi Special Project—has been introduced to support the cultivation of top talents in basic disciplines, respond to major national strategies, and nurture more idealistic and ambitious young talents.
It is believed that the participants will carry forward the expectations and blessings of the university leaders and teachers, jointly writing a new chapter for the "Mingde" community!
