On September 8th, the Opening Ceremony and the First Ideological and Political Lesson for the 2024 Freshmen of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) were held ceremoniously at the Comprehensive Gymnasium of the Guoding Road Campus. Over 4,000 freshmen, filled with a thirst for knowledge and anticipation for their future academic life, embarked on a new journey.
SUFE party and administrative leaders Xu Tao, Liu Yuanchun, Chen Xinyuan, Yao Lingzhen, Zhu Mingxiong, He Pengcheng, Li Zengquan, Liu Liya, Liu Qingsheng, party standing committee members Zhou Guoliang, Cao Dongbo, Chu Hua, former Executive Vice President and Dean of Kuangshi College Xu Fei, heads of various functional departments, colleges (institutes, departments), and teachers' representatives, as well as freshmen representatives from each college (institute, department) attended the ceremony at the main venue. Chen Xiaoman, the liaison officer for party-building work from the Ministry of Education, Wu Fei, a distinguished alumnus and part-time professor of SUFE, founder of Daode Investment, and principals, teachers, and student representatives from the affiliated schools of SUFE also participated in the event.
Cultivating a Sense of National Pride and Aspiring to Strengthen the Country. Mr. Wu Fei, a distinguished alumnus and part-time professor of SUFE, an undergraduate from the 1994 Finance School and a master's graduate from the 1999 class, and the founder of Daode Investment, spoke as a representative of the alumni. Mr. Wu shared his three-decade journey since graduating from SUFE, transitioning from a sponsor representative to an entrepreneur in the photovoltaic field, embodying the spirit of "To pursue moral and academic excellence in service of the country and society." He emphasized that to uphold the school motto, one should choose kindness, adhere to moral principles, give selflessly without expecting returns, study diligently to enrich oneself, and boldly take responsibility to contribute to the country. He encouraged students to not only pursue academic depth but also broaden their horizons and cultivate moral and intellectual qualities, so that they can serve society with economic wisdom and become pillars of the nation in the future.
